It was the red over tan leather just like I want. The seats are so damn comfy. Had every option except, weirdly, third row seats. I’m talking 6 disc changer, power everything. It was the first Taurus I’ve driven with a Duratec. It had only 80k miles on it.

What a piece of shit it was to. I could see the engine shaking in the bay and feel it in the car. The tranny was slipping, the engine was stuttering, the suspension clunked and the rear glass bad it sound like a family of chipmunks were living in the cargo area. The guy at the dealership did not appreciate my assessment of the vehicle. He turned around and walked away as I was telling him about my test drive.

It made me appreciate my Bullmobile. Y u eat my tires Bullmobile?

Does it eat tires because of alignment or something else.

Something else. I’ve done basically everything I can think of. Maybe the front end is tweaked? I had a some work done and an alignment in April and it is already chewing up the fronts.

This has been the pattern for the 80k miles I’ve had it.

Has it ever been hit?

That’s too bad. Our Sable had a fantastic engine and tranny through 223k miles. But there are plenty of bad Tauruses and Sables out there for sure.

Also, it was fucking rude of that salesman to walk away from you while you were talking. Do your fucking job, guy.

There’s no record of it being in an accident but the passenger steering knuckle looks like it had been replaced.

Yeah my Taurus’ engine and tranny are the best parts of the car.

They’re the ONLY good parts unfortunately over time. Okay I’m being harsh — seats were pretty good too.

I’ve never claimed my car was anything but cheap and comfy. I’d happily drive it to 300k if I didn’t have to keep feeding it tires. Those leather seats were on a whole other level. I want that wagon with my engine and tranny in it but I’m not willing to spend the time or money to do it.

Our alignment went bad something like 6 years ago and it ate many many tires. I also think the rear struts failed the second they left the factory.

Yeah those rear struts and springs are not the most robust. Luckily you can purchase heavyduty springs and better struts.

What problem? Bad alignment eating tires?

Modern Taurus Wagon:

Kinja'd!!!

My family had a Sable sedan and a Taurus Wagon. Great for eating miles on the highway, but pretty dull to operate. We had the 3.0L OHV V6 in the Sable and I think it saved us from other costly repairs of parts that would have broken with more power upstream, haha.

My current ride is a Taurus sedan so I expect driving dynamics to be about the same. I think this is about as modern as I’m willing to go.

If you do, go with the X, not the Freestyle, the 3.5L makes a huge difference.
